Remembering Claudia
Claudia grew up on the Wirral and fulfilled her dream of becoming a primary school teacher, sharing her warmth, humour and kindness with children and families. She developed an eating disorder at 15 and later faced serious mental health challenges. Through it all, she and her mum, Tina, found support from Leigh Best, founder of TEDS UK. Claudia died suddenly during the Covid pandemic on her 25th birthday, surrounded by her family. Today, Tina helps carry her daughter’s compassion forward as a TEDS volunteer and Co-Director.

From Claudia’s story grew Claudia’s Light
Developed by award-winning psychotherapist Leigh Best, Claudia’s Light is a school-based programme designed to raise awareness of eating disorders, encourage earlier conversations and help young people understand that their worth lies in who they are, not simply how they look. Through education, understanding and compassion, the programme aims to reach as many schools and young people as possible, helping them recognise when they need support and encouraging them to seek it. Claudia’s Light is a lasting legacy to a much-loved young woman, bringing hope to families and helping make a difference to young lives. To make this possible, we need your help.
A candle with a purpose
To raise much-needed funds, we have partnered with Owen Drew England, an award-winning manufacturer of bespoke, high-quality candles, who has lovingly crafted these beautiful candles in tribute to Claudia’s inner beauty, warmth and enduring light. Each candle carries a message of remembrance and hope. More than a beautiful tribute, every purchase helps TEDS UK continue its vital work supporting children and young people affected by eating disorders, their families and their communities. At TEDS UK, we believe that with understanding, compassion and emotional support, no one should have to face these challenges alone.

The artisan candles are handmade at the Wirral workshop of Owen Drew Candles. They are 100% natural vegan soy wax which are vegan friendly and cruelty free. The Calm fragrance blends vibrant Brazilian Orange, oriental Ylang-Ylang and precious Elemi infused with the aroma of earthy Patchouli, soothing Lavender and cleansing Pine. They have up to 45 hour burn time
